How to apply for a Bartender's (Operator's) License

New Applicants(including Applicants who have an active Operator's License from other municipalities)

New Applicants must complete a Responsible Beverage Server training course prior to applying for a Bartender's(Operator's) License.

New Applicants need to complete the Application for an Operator's License

Submit the Responsible Beverage Server certificate, Application for an Operator's License, driver's license of applicant and $50 check(payable to the City of Rhinelander) or cash to the Clerk's Office.  The application will be sent to the Rhinelander Police Department for a background check.  Once the background check is complete, the Clerk's Office will issue the license and call the applicant to let them know it is ready for pick up.  The process generally takes one week.  On the application, provide a valid phone number with ability to leave a message as the Police Department might need to get additional information from the applicant. 

Renewal of City of Rhinelander issued Operator's License

Applicants who renew their Operator's License prior to the expiration date DO NOT have to complete the Responsible Beverage Server course again.   If the applicant's Operator's License has expired then completion of the Responsible Beverage Server Course is required to obtain an new Operator's License. 

Applicants provide the Clerk's Office with their current Operator's License, Driver's License and completed Application for an Operator's License.
